The whole purpose of salvation, the revelation of Jesus Christ the Son of God in the flesh, is to transform our lives while we are still here on earth to conform to the will of God as we live daily. That after this world is over we may live eternally with God in heaven. Jesus wants us to portray the spiritual changes that have taken place in our lives since we accepted Him as Lord and Savior. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ should impact our lives to live right for God. Jesus did not come so we continue to live as sinners and criminals in this world. Christians must reflect His holiness and righteousness. Check your live frequently and re-examine yourself to ensure you are walking worthy of the Lord.
I Colossians 1:10 “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing….â€
Why live right?
We live right because Jesus paid the ultimate price for it. The power to live right John 1:12 does not come cheap; Jesus came to this wretched world and suffered like mere mortals. He died a painful death on the cross so that we can be delivered from the captivity of satan and be set free to live right and serve the living God in holiness. You need to live right to show your gratitude for the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary.
Pleasing the Lord is also a reason to live right; to give God pleasure. This is the only reason for which man is made Revelation 4:11. Just as parents are proud of their children’s achievements, let God be proud of you. You cannot live to please both God and Satan just as one servant cannot serve two masters. “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other…ye cannot serve God and mammon†Matthew 6:24. Joshua put it right “choose you this day whom you will serve…. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord†Joshua 24:15.
I Colossians 1:10 “….being fruitful in every good work…â€
Be fruitful in every good work, for faith without work is dead James 2:17.It is not enough to attend church services; we need to make positive contributions to the kingdom of God. Give God your best for He is a God of excellence.
I Colossians 1:10 “…increasing in the knowledge of God.
There can be increase in the knowledge of God as we study the Bible. “This book of the law must not depart from thy mouth… “Joshua 1:8. We can never know enough of God. The only way to have knowledge of God is to study His word. Study individually and as a group. This is the only way to be intimate with the Lord. As you increase in the knowledge of His word your thoughts and actions will be aligned to His will and you will grow in your love of Him. The initial love experienced at conversion is not enough, your love for God must be deepened day by day and you begin to develop close relationship with Him. Then you will experience complete dependence on God and rest in His word during the time of crisis. At this point every service rendered becomes an act of love to your Savior and Lord.
